HSP and the BioRisk Association of the Philippines (BRAP)
From December 5-6 and December 8-9, 2022, Health Security Partners (HSP) and the BioRisk Association of the Philippines (BRAP) conducted two-toxin related biosecurity workshops in-person in Cebu, Philippines. The first workshop convened toxicologist researchers working on toxins or their source materials, and health professionals working in poison centers to raise awareness on safely and securely using toxins and their source materials. The second workshop was an exciting opportunity to bring together stakeholders from commercial and agricultural communities, including representatives from e-commerce platforms, to share their experiences and engage in discussion on their responsibility in preventing the safe production and selling of Jatropha, Castor, and Rosary Peas. Each 2-day workshop engaged ~30 participants and was delivered by national and international experts through lectures, case studies, and breakout group discussions to develop locally-led solutions. HSP is always grateful to collaborate with BRAP and thrilled for the opportunity to gather in-person and continue to be impressed by the impact of their work in the Philippines and globally.
